i heart design star

already prone to obsessions, i was a sucker for this past season of hgtv's design star, and was absolutely in love with this year's winner, emily henderson.

emily's mix of clean, modern lines and eclectic, slightly vintage, almost boho chic is something i was immediately drawn to, and her new show, ostensibly titled style to lifestyle, sounds like a brilliant concept (and another impending obsession).

these are just a few of my favorite shots from emily's portfolio. they give me both interior design inspiration as well as stationery design ideas. aren't they fabulous?

color splash miami • inspired

as you may have noticed from my recent posts, i am obsessed with the colors and freshness of miami lately. one major obsession is color splash miami on hgtv.

not only are david bromstad's interior design transformations dramatic and vibrant, they are fabulous inspiration for other areas of design .

behold my latest color transformation fave, and the inspiration for a new line of stationery and invitations. sunny lemon yellow, soft white marabou, hot pink silk and hints of moroccan texture? i'm wild about it.

i'll be sure to send my own after pics when the designs are complete. :o)

striking color decor

i love color. in design, in fashion, in the home. probably my favorite thing about color is its versatility, and the fun you can have playing just with one palette or shade.

below are some incredible images i came across this week, offering two very different options for two very different color pairings.

i've recently been spending a great deal of time and effort attempting to redesign my new office space. considering i spend so much time in this room — writing, drawing and designing — it's critical to me that i make it a true sanctuary.

of course, all of my delightful progress was blown out of the water when i discovered this modern modular office being offered by kithaus. how chic is this?

the ingenious prefab module allows homeowners who desire new living space for a studio, office or meditation room — but don't want the pricetag of hacking into their existing structure — almost unlimited flexibility.

what i love is the ability to plop it in your garden or a shady area of your back yard and make the outdoors your office space. why didn't i think of this before?

fabulous pieces

since this blog is about all things fabulous, i absolutely had to share my latest find with you all: the wonderful, eclectic, i-can't-believe-it-took-me-so-long-to-find-it gem of an vintage-esque store called pieces.

i say vintage-esque because it's really a modern store that features mostly vintage items that have been brought back to life by founder lee kleinhelter (who opened pieces when she saw a gap between the high-end antiques and mass produced items offered in her home of atlanta).

though vintage, everything seems to have a clean, contemporary feel. you really get the best of both worlds — something that has been loved, but then reborn into something fresh and new.

here's how it works. hop on the site, and there's this gauzy, dreamy navigation bar that lets you search by things or by colors. i wanted yellow lamps. i found these. yummy.

one of my favorites is this moss green antique english server. it's sold, but i can still drool over it. i'm redecorating my office, and i think i just found some grey pillows that i can't live without.

inspired by design • domino magazine winner charms with color

yes, i know, domino magazine is no more. and yes, i know, it's tragic. but the beauty of photography is that the images remain long after those who took them.

while reading through my favorite new blog find, hidden in france, i stumbled across this spread of 2007 domino magazine design contest winner catherine golden and was overcome with delight by the fresh colors, whimsical pairings and airy, clean lines. it's gorgeous!

look at this scene. it makes me want to nap, have tea, read a fabulously wrenching henry james novel, stroll paris, eat cheese, breathe in fresh peonies, and otherwise relaaaax. so charming.

catherine hand-stenciled this bed frame. it's so delicately french, but so wholly american at the same time. it's well-thought yet unfussy. pale blue, lime green, hot pink and crisp white... ooh, i feel a new stationery design coming on. :o)
